Maldives Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer embarked on a landmark visit to Qatar on Saturday, marking his first official trip since the inauguration of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu’s administration. The visit, scheduled to conclude on Monday, aims to bolster bilateral relations and explore new avenues for cooperation between the two nations.
During his stay in Doha, Minister Zameer is expected to engage in high-level discussions with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. These talks will focus on deepening the longstanding ties between the two countries and identifying potential areas for further collaboration.
In addition to meeting with the Prime Minister, Minister Zameer will also hold discussions with other senior Qatari officials, underscoring the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening its relationship with Qatar across various sectors. This year holds special significance as it marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Minister Zameer is accompanied on this pivotal trip by a delegation comprising Secretary, Bilateral, Dr Hala Hameed; Ambassador-at-Large and Maldives Ambassador to China, Dr Fazeel Najeeb; and Foreign Ministry’s Assistant Director, Lamha Saleem. Their presence underscores the importance of this visit and the Maldives’ dedication to fostering a strong partnership with Qatar.
The visit is anticipated to yield positive outcomes, further solidifying the already robust ties between the Maldives and Qatar and paving the way for a new era of cooperation in various fields.
