Maldives Represented at Muslim Travel Show 2024

Maldives Halal Travel (MHT) made a strong presence at the recent Muslim Travel Show 2024, held at Excel London from February 24th to 25th. The event, now in its sixth year, highlights halal travel, lifestyle, and cultural experiences around the globe, catering to both Muslim and non-Muslim audiences.

MHT was represented by Dr Sunny Umar, who spoke about the Maldives’ potential as a premier halal travel destination. Dr Umar emphasized the importance of the global halal industry and the country’s unique position to benefit from this rapidly growing market.

The Maldives, a 100% Muslim nation, already boasts an infrastructure well-suited for halal-conscious travellers. Dr Umar acknowledged that while the potential is vast, there’s room for improvement in actively promoting the Maldives as a halal-friendly destination.

Dr Umar also noted that the UK ranks fourth among the top markets for the Maldives, representing a diverse travel community.

The Muslim Travel Show 2024, organized by the British Islamic Trade Association (BITA), ran alongside two other main events: the London Muslim Shopping Festival and the Halal Dining Show. Together, the events provided a platform for stakeholders from around the world to promote halal travel and lifestyle offerings.
