Maldives tourism arrival count has increased by 10.5 percent

According to statistics reports by the Ministry of Tourism, the tourist arrival at the end of June 2018 has increased by 10.5 percent compared to the same period of 2017.

The Maldives Tourism Performance published by the Ministry recorded a total of 93,786 tourist arrivals in June 2018, whereas a total of 85,222 tourist arrivals were noted in June 2017.

The statistics also reflect on the increase of European tourists arriving in the Maldives. The market contributed a staggering 51 percent to the total number of tourist arrivals so far, and Asia-Pacific has contributed 40 percent. A total of 726,515 tourists have visited the island nation from January until the end of June 2018.

The Ministry also confirms that there has been an increase in total bed count, which now sums up to 42,806 in total, comprising of resorts (holding a 71% of the total bed count), guesthouses (holding 19%), safari vessels (with 6%) and hotels (contributing 4% to the total bed count).

Whilst occupancy rates have increased by 63% at the end of June 2018, bed nights have increased by 18.5 percent.

The number of tourist arrivals have been increasing yearly.
