Maldives Welcomes 15% More Tourists in 2024 Compared to Last Year

The Ministry of Tourism has disclosed that the number of tourists visiting the Maldives has exceeded 466,000 since the beginning of the year.

Data provided by the Tourism Ministry indicates that a total of 466,273 tourists have arrived in the country as of March 9. This marks a notable increase of 61,375 tourists, equating to a 15.2 percent rise compared to the same period last year, which saw 404,898 visitors.

China emerges as a significant contributor to this surge, constituting 12 per cent of the total arrivals with 56,181 visitors. Following closely behind are tourists from Russia, accounting for 44,222 arrivals, while Italy and the UK trail with 42,770 and 40,448 arrivals, respectively.

Among other noteworthy contributors are Germany, with 29,196 visitors, and India, with 28,298 arrivals. Additionally, substantial numbers of tourists arrived from France (18,365), the United States (14,405), Poland (11,078), and Switzerland (10,120).
