Maldives Welcomes Thousands Aboard MS Norwegian Sky and MS Riviera This Holiday Season

As the New Year approaches, the Maldives is experiencing a boost in tourist arrivals, with two major cruise liners bringing thousands of visitors to the islands. The MS Norwegian Sky and MS Riviera have added to the holiday excitement, offering passengers a taste of paradise as they explore the Maldives.

The MS Norwegian Sky, which is registered in the Bahamas, arrived in Malé on 29 December, with 1,872 passengers onboard. The ship is docked for a two-day stay, giving passengers the opportunity to explore the Maldives before it departs later on 30 December. This marks the second cruise liner to visit the Maldives this season, highlighting the increasing appeal of the islands to cruise travellers.

The MS Riviera, registered in the Marshall Islands, arrived in Malé on 30 December with 2,004 passengers aboard. Many tourists have already disembarked to discover the Maldives, and the vessel is scheduled to leave Malé on 31 December, Tuesday. The arrival of both the Riviera and the Norwegian Sky highlights the expanding role of cruise tourism in the Maldives, as more travellers choose these cruises to visit the islands.

The arrival of these two cruise ships, along with a steady influx of international visitors, has been a key driver in the growth of tourism in the Maldives. With total arrivals exceeding 2 million this year, the Maldives continues to be a leading destination for global travellers.
