Maldivian Aviation Academy Opens!

The Maldivian Aviation Academy, established by Island Aviation Services Ltd. and the Maldives National University (MNU), has opened today.

The opening ceremony held today was attended by Vice President Faisal Naseem, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula, and senior officials from Island Aviation and MNU.

Speaking at the ceremony, Island Aviation’s Managing Director Mohamed Mihad stated the academy will be run in Addu City, and that enrollment is now open. Additionally, the academy will be operated by a well-established aviation institution from Czech Republic. 

He noted that high priority will be given to students whose courses were disrupted for various reasons at the previous flying school in Addu, Asian Academy of Aeronautics (AAA). As such, the first course the academy will offer is a two-month refresher program.

Mihad added the opening of the Maldivian Aviation Academy will result in an educated and experienced workforce, which will assist Island Aviation achieve its long-term objectives. 

He further thanked President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih for the government’s support in initiating this academy.
