Maldivian to Unveil Airbus A330 at Air Show

Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, is preparing to host an air show to unveil its first wide-body aircraft, the Airbus A330.

With a capacity to carry 324 passengers, the Airbus A330 will be the largest aircraft in Maldivian’s fleet. Currently stationed in Singapore, the aircraft is scheduled to arrive in the Maldives ahead of the air show, which will take place on 6 January.

The event will be held across multiple locations, including the Usfasgandu area in Malé and Hulhumalé Phases I and II, between 5:00 PM and 5:30 PM on Monday.

The introduction of a wide-body aircraft marks a significant milestone for Maldivian and fulfils a key government commitment. While the Maldives’ largest tourism market is currently China, the A330 will initially operate flights to three destinations in the country. Future plans include expanding the airline’s routes to Europe.

The new aircraft will feature three cabin classes: economy, business, and premium, and is expected to accommodate an additional 60,000 passengers annually.

Maldivian’s existing fleet comprises over 20 aircraft, making the Airbus A330 a notable addition to its operations.
