A trade delegation from the Maldives is scheduled to visit the United States in July, announced Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed. The visit to the States is planned for July 10th and has been facilitated by the American government.
Additionally, a Maldivian trade delegation will also visit London on May 15th. Minister Saeed explained that these visits aim to engage with leading financial systems and explore innovative solutions for the Maldives’ economic development.
The Economic Minister highlighted the President’s commitment to international relations, stating that early efforts have already yielded positive results. He referenced the President’s visits to key global economies as driving forces behind new opportunities for the Maldives.
Saeed pointed to the 11 agreements signed during the President’s initial visit to China as examples of this progress. These agreements are intended to enhance the Maldives’ self-sufficiency in food production through access to modern technology and resources. He also noted an increase in tourism from China and an overall improvement in trade relations.
Furthermore, the Minister referenced an agreement signed during the President’s visit to Türkiye, which will facilitate the importation of essential goods. The first shipment of sugarcane from Türkiye is currently on its way to the Maldives.
