Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has, on Tuesday, addressed the inaugural session of Indo-Pacific Business Summit, as a guest of honour. This summit is being held virtually from 6-8 July 2021.
Minister Shahid highlighted the strategic importance of the Indo-Pacific region and the important role that the Maldives can play in ensuring a stable, secure and prosperous region.
In particular, Minister Shahid highlighted the importance of enhancing connectivity – both physical and digital – in order to achieve economic progress in the region. Minister also thanked neigbouring partners for the support extended during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Minister of External Affairs of India Dr Jaishankar delivered the inaugural address. And Minsters across the region participated in the session.
The Summit organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry will have focused sessions over the course of three days and includes participation of Governments, Enterprises, Business Chambers, Think Tanks and Academia from countries across the region
