Ministry of Fisheries, Marine Resources and Agriculture has announced that B. Maaddoo will no longer be released for agricultural purposes.
Earlier last month, the Ministry announced that B. Maaddoo along with 5 other islands will be leased for agricultural purposes.
However, the Ministry has revealed its decision to retract B. Maaddoo from the list and has stated that any payments made for the lease of the island will be remunerated.
As part of the Strategic Action Plan (SAP), the islands were to be leased out for a period of 21 years, to increase food capacity of the country through agricultural economic activities such as farming.
