MIRA collects MVR 1.81 billion as revenue in January

MIRA collected MVR 1.81 billion as revenue in January 2020. This amount is 7.4% more than the amount forecasted for January 2020, but less compared to the amount received in the same period from the previous year.

The reason for the increase in revenue collected compared to the forecast is the 13.6% increase in tourist arrivals in December 2019 compared to December 2018, and due to payments received towards Tourism Land Rent’s last deadline in January 2020. The reason for the decrease in revenue compared to the revenue received in January 2019 is because the payments towards lease period extension fee received in January 2019 were one-off
payments.
