Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with INTERPOL National Central Bureau for Maldives (NCB) yesterday.
The purpose of the agreement is to strengthen relations between the two bodies, and to share information about tax-related criminals. Under this MoU, MIRA states that it will be easier to find information about the criminal records of such tax-related felons, and about whether they operate outside of Maldives.
Furthermore, according to MIRA, the signed agreement would also help in understanding the various tools used by criminal organizations as well.
The MoU was signed yesterday at a ceremony held at Maldives Police Service. It was signed on behalf of MIRA by Commissioner General of Taxation, Fathuhulla Jameel, and on behalf of NCB by Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Hameed.
