MIRA to Disclose Names of Taxpayers in Default

Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced that according to its policy, the authority will later this month be disclosing the names of those who have failed to submit their statements and pay taxes.

The authority will be disclosing the names of those who have not submitted statements or paid GST, Green Tax, Withholding Tax from the fiscal period ending 31 December 2021.

According to MIRA’s policy, the names of those who fail to pay taxes and other non-tax payments will be disclosed within different months of the year. The names of those who did not submit income tax returns or pay income tax for 2021 will be revealed in October.

Further measures have been initiated under the enforcement policy of the authority to recover unpaid taxes and other funds. MIRA therefore is urging those who have not yet submitted their tax returns or have not paid taxes to do so without delay, or to reach a tax agreement with the authority.
