MMPRC revealed in a press release that the agreement, signed by CEO and MD Ibrahim Shiuree and Vice President of Fliggy, Tong Teng, seeks to elevate the Maldives as a premier destination for Chinese travellers by leveraging Fliggy’s extensive reach in the Chinese market.

Noting that Fliggy is among the top leading online travel platforms in China, MMPRC expressed hope that the collaboration will stand out in promoting Maldives as a destination and maintain Maldives’ market position as a key source market in addition to promoting various tourism segments from the Sunny Side of Life.

MMPRC further stated that the partnership with Villa Resorts and the choice of Villa Nautica as the venue for the signing ceremony aims to underscore the Maldives’ appeal as an ideal location for MICE travel, events, and conferences.

Mr. Ibrahim Faisal, the Minister of Tourism, expressed appreciation for the partnership. He highlighted the deep-seated relationship between the two countries and acknowledged the Chinese people’s affinity for the Maldives. He emphasised that the collaboration presents an excellent opportunity to strengthen this connection further.

“We deeply value the strong relationship between our two countries and appreciate the love the Chinese people have for the Maldives,” said Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal. “This partnership is a wonderful opportunity to build on that connection”
