MMPRC hosts a pre-meeting today for the Maldives industry participants of ITB Berlin, which is the largest annual international tourism industry event. 240 participants from 99 companies have registered so far for the event which will be held from 4th-8th March 2020 in Berlin, Germany.
Important information regarding this year’s exhibition including how to maximize participation and opportunities available was shared with the participants. Ideas were exchanged to improve the event. The pre-meeting also provided an opportunity to get introduced and meet with the delegation before the exhibition. The pre-meeting was held at Maagiri Hotel.
ITB Berlin is the largest travel trade exhibition in the world showcasing over 10,000 exhibitors and visited by over 160,000 visitors which includes travel trade and public. ITB Berlin covers all aspects of the travel and tourism sector including destinations, tour operators, airlines, hotels, bloggers and several other stakeholders from the industry.
Germany has been a major market in terms of arrivals to the Maldives, with 131,561 German tourists recorded to have visited the Maldives in 2019. This is an increase of 11.9% when compared to the previous year. German market contributes to 7.7% of the total market share, making it one of the top European markets to the Maldives. Through participation in ITB Berlin, it is expected that the numbers would continue to grow over the coming years.
