The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) opened invitations for proposals yesterday, seeking agencies to apply for a year-long opportunity to represent the Maldives in Germany.
The monthly budget for the project is USD 3,600, subject to a 10% withholding tax. MMPRC has clarified that they will not cover any costs beyond the specified monthly retainer fee for the services outlined in the scope of work.
The chosen agency will work closely with MMPRC to achieve strategic marketing goals, including increasing tourist arrivals from Germany, enhancing the image of the Maldivian tourism industry, emphasising experiential tourism, and ensuring sustainable tourism in the Maldives.
The announcement also noted that if the contract is extended, the monthly retainer fee could increase by up to 20% from the original contract amount.
Agencies applying for the role must have relevant experience within the past five years and demonstrate a deep understanding of the German market, particularly in outbound travel.
Proposals for the project must be submitted by 12:00 hrs on September 19, 2024.
Germany remains a significant source market for the Maldives, with 95,217 arrivals recorded in the latest data from the Ministry of Tourism.
