Mohamed Umar Manik Resigns as MACL Chairman

Mohamed Umar Manik (MU Manik), Chairman of the Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), has tendered his resignation. The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) confirmed receipt of his resignation letter on Thursday, January 28th.

The PCB cited health reasons as Manik’s motivation for stepping down. In his resignation, he expressed concerns that his health limited his ability to fully execute his duties as Chairman.

Manik joined MACL’s board in 2013 and subsequently served as its Chairman. He holds a prominent position within the Maldives tourism industry, recognized as a respected pioneer of the sector.

Despite his resignation from MACL, Manik remains involved in the tourism industry as the co-founder and Chairman of the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI).
