Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) and the Labour Relations Authority (LRA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yesterday.
Under the agreement, as per the Employment Act, parties who levy a service charge will now only have to present relevant documentation to MIRA, instead of both MIRA and LRA.
Furthermore, under the agreement, payments accepted by LRA can also be accepted by MIRA.
As per the Employment Act, MIRA has created a special online portal for parties who levy a service charge to present relevant information regarding service charge, and under the agreement, this information can also be shared with LRA.
The MoU was signed by on behalf of MIRA by the Commissioner General of Taxation Mr. Fathuhulla Jameel, and on behalf of LRA by Director General Mr. Ibrahim Rasheed.
