Former President of Maldives, Speaker of Parliament Mr. Mohamed Nasheed, alongside members of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) will be visiting Sri Lanka on 15th June 2019.
This visit is being made in order to display the solidarity Maldives has with Sri Lanka. In addition, it is also meant to tell the rest of the world that despite the recent attacks in Sri Lanka, they still offer exceptional hospitality and that the country is beautiful in nature.
Sri Lanka serves as a second home for many Maldivians with over 15,000 Maldivians residing in Sri Lanka. The country has been a long-time partner in education, health, trade and development in general and maintains close diplomatic relations with Maldives.
