MSS to Commence Direct Cargo Services to Malaysia and Singapore

Maldives State Shipping (MSS), is commencing direct cargo service between Singapore-Maldives and Malaysia-Maldives.

As per MSS, the boat will be brought to Maldives in July, and would start trips to harbors of Malaysia and Singapore. Currently, MSS Galena the ship has been travelling between Maldives and Colombo.

The Managing Director of MSS, Captain Abdullah Saeed stated that they have further plans to expand their direct cargo service to the ports of the Middle East in the near future.

MSS also stated they will continue to expand their services to other sectors. In regards to this, they highlighted that they have chosen Singapore Port and Port Klang, Malaysia to the Maldives as their next trading area.

After the announcement of the purchase of the new ship, MSS has also opened applications of new employment opportunities in connection to the vessel. The opportunities consist of engineering positions, electricians and masters. Salaries for these posts are between MVR 38,000 to MVR 115,000. Further positions include seamen, chefs, mess boys, welders and oilers. Wages for these posts are between MVR 15,000 to 19,000.

Moreover, the services of MSS are available from key ports of the Asian and Gulf region.
