President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu met with Ambroise Fayolle, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, on Monday. The meeting, which took place during the fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS4) agenda in Antigua and Barbuda, focused on fostering cooperation and securing funding for projects aimed at bolstering climate resilience.
According to a press release from the President’s Office, the dialogue centred on exploring collaborative avenues to finance infrastructure ventures geared towards climate mitigation. Specific areas of interest included the construction of seawalls, shore protection measures, water management systems, and initiatives promoting renewable energy.
Acknowledging the European Investment Bank’s consistent support for the Maldives, President Muizzu expressed appreciation for the institution’s assistance. He underscored the government’s dedication to strengthening the relationship between the bank and the nation.
