The Male’ Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has successfully completed the water and sewerage project in R. Kinolhas, inaugurated today by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in a ceremony held on the island.
The event was graced by Managing Director Hassan Shaah, various state ministers, company employees, and local residents.
As part of the water project’s initiatives, a dedicated facility building has been established to house the water plant, while the primary water pipe network has been laid out, ensuring water connections to the homes. The project also boasts the construction of water plants, excavation of boreholes, the creation of reject lines, and the installation of water storage tanks.
On the sanitation front, the work encompassed the development of a primary drainage network, the creation of a pumping line, the establishment of a sewerage administrative building, a pumping station, and the construction of a sea outflow. To facilitate the connection, junctions have been incorporated into homes, and sewer links established. The project also equips the island with generator sets, vehicles, and water testing tools for the continued upkeep of the system.
The monumental R. Kinolhas water and sanitation endeavour was commissioned to MWSC by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure. The project, which stands at a total expenditure of MVR 36.05 million, is set to provide the inhabitants of Kinolhas with access to pure drinking water and reliable sanitation facilities.
