Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) and Waste Management Corporation Limited (WAMCO) have announced a total of 74 apprenticeship opportunities for Maldivian youth seeking employment.
Both WAMCO and MPL announced their participation in the National Apprenticeship Programme, an initiation by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment in collaboration with the Tivet Authority. The program aims to develop youth who are able to then secure job opportunities, instill professional competency in them, and provide further opportunities for growth through training.
WAMCO, a partner at the National Apprenticeship Programme, will be issuing an allowance of MVR 5,000 for youth who participate in the apprenticeship with them. Participants of the programme will get to work with WAMCO for six months, and will be offered 29 opportunities for apprenticeship across six fields. Furthermor, WAMCO stated that the company would be prioritizing those who had completed the apprenticeship programme with them when hiring in the future.
MPL will be offering 45 apprenticeship slots from across seven fields, with the duration of the apprenticeships set at six months as well.
All participants in this programme will be awarded an MNQF Level 3 qualification upon the completion of their apprenticeships. The deadline to submit application forms for apprenticeships with WAMCO under the program is 2 pm on 14th April 2021.
