Official figures publicised by the Maldives Pension Administration Office (MPAO) show that over MVR 131 million was paid out as pension in April 2022.
MVR 96 million was disbursed under the basic pension scheme to 20,120 registered individuals. A further MVR 21 million was paid as retirement allowance to 4,303 individuals who retired from government posts.
Furthermore, MVR eight million was paid out to 1,645 people under the retirement pension scheme, and MVR five million as retirement allowances to 2,944 people.
MPAO was established on May 13, 2009, under the Pension Act. MPAO has four pension schemes, including the basic pension scheme and the retirement pension scheme.
