The President of the Maldives, Honorable Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has estimated that the population of Maldives will rise to 5 lakh by the end of 2019.
He stated this while speaking at the ceremony held to commemorate World Population Day on 11th July 2019.
Hon. Solih explained that by the end of 2019, the population of Maldives is expected to increase to 530,000 with 30% of the figure being expatriates.
Due to this, he mentioned that the government is working on a Migration Policy to lessen the amount of income which goes out of the country.
