According to Housing Development Corporation (HDC), the design work of the international stadium intended to open in Hulhumale’ by the government of Qatar has been finalized.
The Managing Director of HDC, Mohamed Simon has mentioned that the drawings of the stadium have been finalized; moreover, estimates on the whole project is ongoing as well.
“The government of Qatar and Maldives is working together on building a Mega Sports Structure in Hulhumale’”, Simon mentioned.
According to Simon, although the concept designing is finalized, some amendments are expected during the detailed designing.
The news of this international stadium developing in Hulhumale’ was revealed in October of last year at an event held by Ooredoo Maldives. During this event, the chairman of Ooredoo Group, Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammed Bin Saud Al Thani emphasized that the government of Qatar is ready to build a world class stadium in Hulhumale’ before the end of 2022. Hence, the commencement date of this project has not been revealed yet.
HDC is working hard in developing the sports facilities in the Maldives; for instance, they have built an international standard running track in Hulhumale’ and working on developing to improve its facilities as well.
