Goods transport is not allowed between:

  • 6:00 am to 9:30 am
  • 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm

However, a different schedule will apply during the last 10 days of Ramadan. From the 20th of Ramadan until the end of the month, businesses can transport goods during:

  • 6:00 am to 4:30 pm
  • 8:00 pm to 6:00 am

During this period, the restriction from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm remains unchanged.

Why These Changes Matter for Businesses

Ramadan is one of the busiest periods for businesses in Malé, with increased demand for food, retail goods, and other essentials. The revised transport timings aim to manage traffic congestion and streamline logistics, particularly during peak hours.

The Economic Ministry confirmed that the time slots were determined following consultations with the Transport Ministry and the police. Businesses relying on frequent deliveries should plan ahead to ensure supply chains remain uninterrupted.

How Businesses Can Prepare

  • Adjust Delivery Schedules: Work with suppliers to align deliveries within the permitted hours.
  • Optimise Storage: Stock up on essential goods in advance to avoid last-minute transport disruptions.
  • Communicate With Customers: Inform customers about any potential delays or adjustments in delivery times.

With careful planning, businesses can navigate these restrictions smoothly while ensuring uninterrupted operations throughout Ramadan.
