Saudi Arabia and Maldives to Forge New Economic Ties with Landmark Trade Agreement

Yesterday, the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia announced their decision to enter a trade agreement with the Maldives.

Chaired by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the pivotal meeting also saw the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. The Saudi Press Agency reported that negotiations for the trade agreement between Maldives and Saudi officials have been initiated.

Key representatives from both nations are actively engaged in these negotiations, with the Maldivian Economic Ministry, Saudi Economic Ministry, and Foreign Investment Authority playing integral roles.

Saudi Minister of Economy and Planning, Faisal bin Fadhil Alibrahim recently visited the Maldives, highlighting the importance of enhancing bilateral ties. As a Special Envoy from Saudi Arabia, he attended President Muizzu’s inauguration and, during a meeting on Saturday, engaged in discussions with the president on bolstering development cooperation. The talks encompassed various aspects such as trade, investment, and economic collaborations, reflecting the shared aspirations for increased mutual growth and prosperity.
