As the first quarter of 2019 concludes, a significant increase in South Asian tourists has been noticed, with statistics concluding the rise to be almost twice the amount compared to 2018.
India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan appears to be prominent hotpots of South Asian market. India dominates this market with 30,000 tourists, followed by Sir Lanka with 2,800 tourists. The main reason for the increase in the regional market is due to 85% increase of tourists incoming from India.
In the first three months of 2019, 482،978 tourist have visited Maldives from all over the world, which is 15% increase compared to the statistics of 2018.
