Maldives Police Service (MPS) has announced that they are conducting a special operation against motor cycle riders who smoke while driving.
According to the police, smoking while driving has become rather frequent and they will penalize anyone noticed doing so during this operation.
With regards to the law, anyone who smokes or uses their phone while driving are required to pay a fine of MVR 750.
In reference to the latest statistics publicized by the Police, they penalized two parties for smoking while driving along with 24 phone users in the last week of June.
