Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Mohamed Nasheed departed to Sri Lanka on Monday night to attend a meeting on seeking financial assistance for Sri Lanka.
Nasheed stated that he was traveling to Sri Lanka for a meeting between the CVF and the Sri Lanka Mission as part of his efforts to seek foreign assistance to rectify the country’s economic crisis.
Sri Lanka is facing a series of protests over the country’s disastrous economic situation. Sri Lanka’s incumbent President Ranil Wickremesinghe appointed Nasheed as a special envoy to coordinate foreign aid to help improve the country’s economic situation.
Speaker Nasheed is also in talks with Sri Lanka’s political leaders to stabilise the political situation.
