State Electric Company (STELCO) has introduced Equal Payment Plan, allowing customers to pay a fixed amount each month for electricity.
Speaking during a press conference yesterday, STELCO’s Managing Director Hassan Mughnee said the plan was introduced based on two years of customer feedback.
The Equal Payment Plan will be available for general house customers, including homeowners and tenants with the consent of the landlord. According to STELCO, customers that do not have any outstanding payments to the company are eligible for the plan.
Once customers submit their applications to enroll in the plan, STELCO will sign an agreement with the customers for the provision of the service. The agreement can be terminated at any time subject to a 30-day notice.
With the newly introduced plan, customers can pay a fixed amount for electricity each month which will be an average calculated based on their monthly electricity consumption history. The average is calculated using two methods. If the electricity is already in use, the fixed amount will be the average of the monthly payment for the past 12 months. If the electricity is new, the fixed amount will be calculated based on the size of the space, the number of electric items and consumption.
STELCO informs that in light of the changes in electricity consumption due to COVID-19, the fixed amounts will be calculated based on the consumption in 2019. If customers have complaints regarding the calculations, they can request a review of it.
