Maldives Ports Limited has stated that students and children under the age of 2 can travel cost-free by the bus. A media official from MPL affirmed that no fees will be collected from children under the age of 2 or students in their school uniform.
Since September 2018 til the 31st of December, MPL has been providing their bus services for free. However, they now charge a fee of MVR 10 and requests customers to buy and Top up a TouchLink card, as these cards are used to pay the fares upon boarding the bus. The cards are available from either the main bus terminal in Male or Hulhumale for a price of MVR 20 and can also be recharged from the same stops.
