The disunion of Maldives from Commonwealth has impacted the Maldives tourism, stated the managing director of Inner Maldives, Mr. Mohamed Firaq. He mentioned this during his appearance in PSM’s Raajje Miadhu program.
“The separation of some of the outbound communities for various reasons create business related problems,” said Mr. Firaq. “For example, even though we do not realize, there are political influencers who will affect activities such as promoting Maldives in Europe. ”
Mr. Firaq explained that some countries used to have offices that played a great role in the promotion of tourism in Maldives. Hence the re-establishment of similar centers would open more opportunities to bring in tourists to the Maldives. He then applauded the direction of the works currently being done in the tourism industry and stated that he hoped for a better future for tourism in Maldives.
