A tourist yacht has been cleared to enter the Maldives via the ISPS gate in Ihavandhippolhu Atoll, the northernmost region, as confirmed by Mohamed Wajeeh, CEO of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL).
In a social media update, Wajeeh noted that the ISPS gate in Ihavandhippolhu facilitated the entry of the yacht, which was carrying tourists. He also mentioned that MPL has made necessary arrangements to accommodate yachts arriving in the Maldives during the current peak tourist season.
Inaugurated in September, the northern ISPS gate is designed to support maritime services for vessels operating in the northern Maldives. This area has been identified as a secure zone for international maritime traffic. Looking to the future, MPL plans to introduce offshore bunkering services in the region, which would further enhance the area’s maritime infrastructure.
