UNDP Maldives has concluded its first pilot program of women’s economic empowerment focusing on Dhaalu Atoll WDCs & councils.
This 3 part training included full participation of Dhaalu Atoll women’s development committees and council members. The main goal of the program was to empower elected women leaders to champion economic empowerment for women.
Topics such as women’s development committees and the law, finding good business ideas, setting business goals, knowing the risks and testing business ideas were discussed. Additionally, during the women’s economic empowerment training, a variety of topics such as how to develop a detailed business plan, access finances, register a business & book keeping were also covered.
UNDP Maldives conducted this program together with the Ministry of Economic Development and Local Government Authority.
