Velana International Airport (VIA) stated that they recorded a seaplane movement of 531 seaplanes on the 3rd of February 2019. Previously, the record was 517 and it was recorded on the 23rd of December 2018.
While the record seaplane movement has been replaced, the record airplane movement remains as 212 flights which was also recorded on the 23rd of December 2018.
On the day the airport experienced the greatest traffic in December, Velana International Airport recorded 17,723 international passengers, 4,269 domestic passengers totaling 21,992 passengers. MACL explained that they carried 5,500 passengers in TMA and Maldivian’s seaplanes on that day.
