Maldivians and Russian tourists can now travel within the two countries without visas, beginning from 25th July 2019.
Under this agreement, Maldivian tourists who travel to Russia will receive a 90-day on-arrival visa from Russia and vice-versa.
However, those who travel for studies, business reasons or for emigration purposes must acquire a visa pre-arrival, as per Foreign Ministry of Russia.
President Honorable Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has also inaugurated a Maldivian Embassy in Moscow, Russia in February 2019.
Russia is one of the most prime markets to Maldives with over 38,000 arrivals in 2018.
