Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has announced that Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) is expecting over 50 private jets to land in time for New Year’s celebrations this year; a record number for the Maldives.
Associate General Manager of MACL, Hassan Areef told news media outlets that in previous years, some private jets landing at Ibrahim Nasir International Airport had to be diverted to domestic airports and other international airports due to space constraints. To correct this, the apron at INIA has been expanded to accommodate a larger number of aircrafts.
Mr. Areef noted that the expansion of the airport apron in time for the peak tourism period in Maldives is a very positive development that will lead to a clear increase in the revenue generated from INIA.
