Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) has announced the income for March 2017 at MVR 1.3 billion.
According to MIRA’s statement, the bulk of the revenue was from Goods and Services Tax (GST) at MVR 666 million, with tourism land rent as the second largest contributor at MVR 272 million, and MVR 73 million as Airport Service Charge, MVR 17 million as Business Profit Tax and MVR 10 million as Remittance Tax.
MIRA’s revenue for the same month of the previous year was at MVR 1.1 billion. Noticeable, the MVR 17 million collected as BPT was 7% lower than the amount from March 2016, which was at MVR 19 million, while the amount collected as Airport Service Charge has almost doubled, up by 40% from the MVR 43 million collected last year.
