MWSC has commenced work on establishing water and sewerage systems in Alif Alif Feridhoo and Himandhoo.
In ceremonies held at the respective islands, the projects were inaugurated by Managing Director of MWSC Mr. Hassan Shah, Board Member of MWSC Mr. Ibrahim Anwar, and Parliament member of Mathiveri constituency Mr. Hassan Zareer. The ceremony was also attended by Himandhoo Council President Mr. Husham Ismail and Feridhoo Council President Mr. Ismail Shah.
Equipment for the projects has been transported to both islands, and work is currently ongoing to bury pipes and build RO facilities under the water system project.
As part of the efforts to establish a water system in Feridhoo, the main pipeline network of 6.77 kilometers will be established on the island, two RO plants will be installed to produce water, and three water storage facilities will be installed on the island. Water meters will also be installed in houses.
As part of the project to establish a sewerage system in Feridhoo, the main sewerage network of 5.05 kilometers will be established, a pumping line of 1.07 kilometers will be constructed, three pumping stations, and a sea outflow will be established. Junctions will also be installed in the houses, and sewerage connections will be made.
The AA. Feridhoo water and sewerage project was contracted to MWSC for MVR 69.33 million.
Under the Himandhoo water system project, a main network of 35 kilometers of pipes will be established on the island, two RO plants will be installed to produce water, and three tanks will be installed to store water. Water meters will be installed in houses, and water connections will be made.
Under the island’s sewerage system, a 31-kilometer long sewerage main network will be established and a 956-meter pumping line will be constructed. Three pumping stations will be set up, a sea outflow will be established, and junctions will be placed in houses.
MWSC will also provide generator sets, vehicles, and water analysis equipment to maintain the water and sewerage system in the two islands.
The AA. Himandhoo water and sewerage system project was awarded to MWSC for MVR 65.83 million.
