The Ministry of Economic Development has warned the public of duplicated fake websites of the ‘Xpat’ portal.
The Xpat online portal was developed and managed by the Ministry for the process of recruiting expatriate workers to the Maldives.
In a statement publicised yesterday, the Ministry emphasised that such fake websites are being created to steal user data. Six of these websites have been brought to their attention so far:
- http://immigrationgovmv.org
- http://xpat-egovmv.com
- https://xpategov.com
- https://www.xpat-gov.com
- https://www.xpat-egov.online
- http://xpategovmv.org
The Ministry urged the public to ensure that they are browsing on the right portal in attaining government services. The Ministry also instructed to reset passwords if users suspect that they have accidentally logged into a fake portal or website.
