Dhiraagu has signed as the Digital Partner for Vaavoshi Turtle Festival 2022, the first multi-atoll festival to take place in the Maldives. Organised by the Olive Ridley Project, this festival will take place on 29 October across nine islands: N. Lhohi, R. Fainu, B. Goidhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, K. Huraa, K. Maafushi, V. Keyodhoo, and S. Feydhoo.
The Vaavoshi Turtle Festival will be held in collaboration with the schools of these islands, with participation of students up to Grade 12. The aim of the festival is to celebrate the sea turtle population in the Maldives while highlighting and raising awareness about the threats that sea turtles and other marine life face in the country.
Festival activities include beach clean-ups, ‘Conservation Conversations’ awareness sessions by various environmental organisations and a Vaavoshi Festival Rally where students will pledge to protect sea turtles. Additionally, earlier this month, a nation-wide poster design competition was open for students as well.
Dhiraagu remains committed to supporting initiatives that focus on conserving our environment, which is a key focus of our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
