Government Announces Designated Hours for Goods Transportation During Ramadan

The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has released a statement outlining the designated hours for the transportation of goods in the Greater Male’ Region during the upcoming month of Ramadan.

According to the ministry’s guidelines, all types of vehicles are permitted to transport goods from 0900hrs to 1630hrs and from 2000hrs to 0600hrs. However, during the hours between 1630hrs to 2000hrs, vehicles are prohibited from transporting any type of goods for commercial purposes.

In addition, the ministry has introduced new policies which allow all types of vehicles to transport goods across the Sinamale’ Bridge from 0900hrs to 1630hrs and from 0100hrs to 0600hrs. Similarly, during the hours between 1630hrs to 2000hrs, vehicles are prohibited from transporting any type of goods across the bridge for commercial purposes. It has been specified that vehicles may transport water and cooking gas across the bridge from 0900hrs to 1630hrs and from 2000hrs to 0600hrs.

The ministry has emphasized that individuals found violating these policies will face penalties in accordance with relevant rules and regulations. As such, the ministry has announced a fine of USD48 for individuals found transporting goods in violation of the designated hours.
