Travellers seeking a direct route between the picturesque northern Maldives and India’s culturally rich Trivandrum are in for good news. Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has announced it will resume seasonal flights between Hanimaadhoo International Airport and Trivandrum starting on April 12th, 2024.
The reinstated route marks a commitment by Maldivian Airlines to enhance connectivity within the northern territories of the Maldives and strengthen ties with key destinations in the region. The move is expected to provide more travel options for northern residents and boost tourism and business exchange between the two nations.
Maldivian’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Iyas, highlighted the significance of the route’s restoration, stating: “This route greatly benefits our customers and the economy of the northern area of the Maldives… [and] will boost to the travel trade and support the socio-economic growth of the Maldives.”
The airline expressed gratitude to authorities and partners, specifically the Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL), for facilitating the new route.
Trivandrum, known for its historical richness, cultural diversity, and business opportunities, is a valuable addition to Maldivian’s growing network. Travellers can start booking flights on the Hanimaadhoo-Trivandrum route from March 6th, 2024, through Maldivian Airlines’ website, app, and ticketing offices.
The airline will operate two flights per week, on Fridays and Mondays, with a schedule designed to accommodate both leisure and business travellers.
The resumption of this service is a positive development for the Maldivian tourism industry and signifies the airline’s dedication to expanding regional connectivity.
