Her Excellency Wang Lixin, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of the Maldives, paid a courtesy call on President His Excellency Dr Mohamed Muizzu this morning at the President’s Office. This high-level meeting underscored the close ties between the two nations and their commitment to furthering cooperation.
During the meeting, President Dr Muizzu and Ambassador Wang Lixin revisited the key issues discussed during the President’s State visit to China earlier this year. Both parties emphasised the importance of expediting the implementation of the agreements made during the visit.
Ambassador Wang Lixin assured President Dr Muizzu of the Chinese Government’s steadfast support in addressing the urgent needs of the Maldives. She highlighted the distinctive bond between the two countries, noting the special importance that Chinese President, His Excellency Xi Jinping, attaches to the Maldives.
The discussions also explored collaborative efforts to boost tourism in the Maldives, a key sector for the island nation’s economy. Both President Dr Muizzu and Ambassador Wang Lixin expressed their commitment to enhancing this sector through joint initiatives and strengthened partnerships.
Concluding the meeting, the President and the Ambassador reaffirmed their dedication to further solidifying bilateral relations.
