The management of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) actively participated in the port’s cargo operations today to better appreciate the hard work of the employees involved in these essential tasks.
MPL CEO Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim, along with the heads of all departments, visited the port to engage firsthand in the cargo operations. This initiative aims to give the company’s executives a closer look at the working conditions and challenges faced by port workers.
Wajeeh highlighted that the programme would enable the management to identify and address issues within the port operations environment. “Another purpose is to ensure the continuity of cargo operations by reallocating staff from other departments when there are shortages due to illness, leave, or other reasons. This programme will ensure that we are never short of employees needed for cargo operations,” said CEO Wajeeh.
He further emphasised the importance of practical experience in cargo operations for all MPL employees. A new programme will soon be introduced to provide all company employees with hands-on experience in cargo operations, reinforcing the company’s commitment to operational efficiency and workforce understanding.
This initiative reflects MPL’s proactive approach to improving workplace conditions and operational resilience by fostering a deeper understanding of the daily challenges faced by port employees.
