Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has resumed its flights to Dhaka, Bangladesh, after a temporary suspension due to unrest following protests against the former Bangladeshi government.
While the resumption marks a return to service on this crucial route, Maldivian has reduced the frequency of its flights to Dhaka. Previously, the airline operated two flights per week to the Bangladeshi capital, but this has now been scaled back to just one weekly flight.
Dhaka remains one of the few international destinations served by Maldivian. Alongside Dhaka, the airline currently operates international flights to Trivandrum, Cochin, and Bangalore in India. As part of its strategic expansion plans, Maldivian is also in the process of acquiring a wide-body aircraft to extend its range of international destinations.
The decision to resume flights to Dhaka, albeit with a reduced schedule, highlights Maldivian’s commitment to maintaining its international connections while ensuring the safety and security of its operations amid regional challenges.
