Ooredoo Maldives Celebrates International Older Persons Day with Community Initiatives

Ooredoo Maldives marked International Older Persons Day by launching a series of activities aimed at supporting and empowering the elderly. The initiatives, held at Naadhee in Malé, included a gardening session, a digital partnership announcement, and a book donation, all underscoring Ooredoo’s commitment to social responsibility.

In collaboration with the Ministry of Social and Family Development, the company hosted a special “Grow with Ooredoo” session, focusing on backyard gardening for the elderly. The session was tailored to promote environmental sustainability while fostering a sense of community among participants. Older residents were taught how to create and maintain their own gardens, with an emphasis on sustainable and easy-to-manage methods that also contribute to local biodiversity. The initiative encouraged active lifestyles and highlighted the importance of connecting with nature to improve well-being.

Ooredoo also announced a new digital partnership aimed at enhancing connectivity for the elderly. This partnership ensures better access to the company’s telecommunications and digital services for residents and aims to support connectivity for various events at Naadhee.

Additionally, Ooredoo donated a collection of books to help establish a library corner at Naadhee, encouraging lifelong learning among older individuals. This donation is expected to offer seniors a welcoming space to explore new topics, engage in intellectual activities, and enjoy literature.

These efforts reflect Ooredoo Maldives’ continued dedication to fostering community engagement, digital inclusion, and sustainability through innovative programmes and partnerships.
