In preparation for the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR) 2024, scheduled for Friday, 25 October, road closures will be implemented to ensure participants’ safety. The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation announced that the race routes will be closed to all non-essential vehicles during the race hours. Only authorised event vehicles will be permitted to access the routes during the following times:
- 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM
- 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
The event, which will take place at Central Park in Hulhumalé, will feature both a Half Marathon and 10K race in the morning, while the 5K race is scheduled for 4:30 PM in the evening. This year’s race will see 4,400 participants, making it the largest international run in the Maldives. The event is recognised by the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) and features a World Athletics-certified race route.
Residents and visitors in Hulhumalé are advised to plan accordingly due to the road closures during these times.
